Most sourcing organizations today contend with multiple spreadsheets and rely on a business analyst to lay out the right rules and comb through thousands of lines of code to analyze pricing scenarios for a single event. Scout DNA is purpose-built for Sourcing to easily view scenarios that have the biggest impact on savings targets.
When using Scout Scenarios, you can tabulate through multiple options to arrive at the most effective decisions quickly and efficiently. Scout provides the following pre-canned scenarios - 1st. 2nd, 3rd place Scenarios, Incumbent, and Historical Baseline.
What are the Scout Scenarios?
Below we identify and define the pre-canned scenarios Scout provides for everyone using DNA.
1st, 2nd, 3rd Place Scenarios
The below "olympic-placed" scenarios helps sourcing teams to understand the spend and savings analysis for each of the scenarios.
1st Place Scenario:
- Is our low-cost scenario.
- Where you are cherry-picking the lowest cost supplier for every line item.
2nd & 3rd Place Scenarios:
- Identifies the 2nd and 3rd lowest priced line item in each scenario
Incumbent Scenario
- Who you purchased from last year? This could be your preferred supplier.
- The supplier currently in use is considered the incumbent due to the associations of the supplier holding the position.
- Example: If a new supplier wants to take over the duties of the current supplier, the new supplier is a challenger to the current supplier’s incumbency.
Note: In order to run the Incumbent Scenario, you will need to define your incumbent supplier within your reference column. Please read further on how you will learn how to denote your incumbent supplier for each line item in DNA.
Historical Baseline Scenario
- How much you spent?
- This includes the historic price within the rankings.
- Agreed upon and serves as a basis for defining change.
Note: In order to run the Historical Baseline Scenario, you will need to define your historical baseline spend within Column Mapping in Settings. Please read further on how you will learn how to map your historical spend in DNA.
** Outliers do not count towards these scenarios, as they are automatically removed. If you'd like to bring them back in, you can change the percentage in the Outlier Analysis' settings.
